Emerging technologies such as virtual reality (VR), artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics will strongly influence the careers we do in the future, according to new research from BAE Systems. Almost half of young people (47%) aged between 16-24 believe that one day they will work in a role that doesn't exist yet, but only one-in-five (18%) think they are equipped with the skills required to future-proof their careers. Three-quarters (74%) also feel that they are not getting enough information about careers that will be available in the future. These are the findings of a new study by BAE Systems, which also revealed that 70% of young people want more guidance on the skills that will be in demand in the next 20 years to help make more informed decisions on their further education and careers. In response to these findings, futurists and technologists at BAE Systems have predicted what they think will be the the top jobs in 2040 and the areas of study that students should pursue to equip them with relevant skills.

Artificial Intelligence & robotics: Will exit affect Infy's tech edge?

#artificialintelligence

It was only over the last 10 days that there were serious murmurs about Vishal Sikka -- Infosys's rockstar CEO, as described by a company founder -- hanging up his boots. But none who know N R Narayana Murthy expected an outcome any different than this. "Mr Murthy quoting independent directors as having said Sikka'is not CEO material but CTO material' suggests loss of confidence. It seems he bought into their assessment. Hitherto, there was comfort within the company's leadership team that Mr Murthy's battle was essentially with the current board," said a senior Infosys executive of two decades.

Artificial Intelligence & Robotics: Emerging Trends in AP

#artificialintelligence

Using virtual technology to take on the work of humans when interacting with applications will transform the procure-to-pay function. Automating process through robotics will allow you to perform repetitive tasks continuously and flawlessly all the time with minimal set up. Technology ensures error-prone payable processes and eliminates much of the mundane and time-consuming tasks such as data-entry. Also, robotics in AP will accelerate cycle times, easily manage tasks in volume, ensure consistency in operating procedures and streamlines audit & compliance activities. Human work can be combined with robotic process automation to streamline the supplier management and to tightly align accounts payable with other departments.
